Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: What are witches and can they go to heaven?

Answer: Witches are people who practice sorcery, magic and other forms of divination. They worship nature as they believe that they can draw their power from the forces or spirits of nature. This is a form of idolatry which is condemned in the Bible (Exodus 20:1-7). The Bible also states:

"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:19-21)

As such, practising witches cannot go to heaven. However, if they repent and renounce their witchcraft practices and beliefs, and put their trust in Jesus; they can certainly go to heaven (Acts 8:22, 20:21). Related topic in Issues # 17, 40, 101.
