Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: If God can heal, why doesn't He heal all the time?

Answer: This is a difficult question to answer because we do not know why God does not heal the sick all the time. There are a number of possible reasons. One reason is a lack of faith (Matthew 9:2, 22, 14:31; Acts 14:9). In Matthew 13:58, Jesus did not do many miracles because the people lacked the faith. Another reason is unrepentant sin which prevents people from being healed (Leviticus 26:15-16; Psalm 38:3, 41:4; John 5:14; James 5:15-16). One other reason is that it is not according to God's timing for the person to be healed. For example, Job, a righteous man, had to go through much suffering before he was restored (Job 42:10). Apostle Paul was also not healed of "the thorn in his flesh" (2 Corinthians 12:7). In conclusion, it is important to let God be in control of our sickness. He is Almighty God and we should not accuse Him of being unjust when He does not heal us (Job 40:2). We should trust God to heal us according to His time. Even if He does not heal us at all, remember that His grace is sufficient for all of us and we will go to heaven when we die (1 Corinthians 12:9). Related topic in Issues # 55, 56.
