Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: How can the fear of God be the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10)?

Answer: When we start to fear and revere God, it is because we acknowledge God as the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. We realise how insignificant and lowly we are in comparison to God Almighty. Our human wisdom is like a droplet of water in comparison to God's vast ocean's (1 Corinthians 1:25). Therefore, we humble ourselves and earnestly seek God for His wisdom and guidance (Psalm 25:9, 13-14). In our fear (reverence) of God, we are also committed to walk more closely with Him and to please Him in everything we do (Deuteronomy 10:12), and this is considered wise in God's sight.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. You are all-powerful and wise. I humble myself before You and ask that You forgive me of my pride in my own imperfect wisdom. I confess that true wisdom only comes from You. Please teach me to be humble and put the fear of You in my heart so that I will learn to be wise in You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
