| PAST ISSUE # 118 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: If it is so easy to find God, why are there many people who do not believe in God? Answer: There are many people who do not believe in God because they have been deceived by Satan (Luke 8:12; 2 Corinthians 4:4). Satan deceives these people into thinking that there is no God or created things (e.g. statues, rocks, the moon, stars, animals, etc) are gods. Satan also deceives these people into thinking that they are gods or goddesses themselves. However, we know from the Bible that there is only one true and living God who is the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. Second, pride makes people less likely to find or seek God (Psalm 10:4). These people think they don't need God because they have wealth and power (Matthew 19:24). Unfortunately, they forget that they can lose these things and that their lives are actually in God's hands. Third, sin prevents people from knowing God because people prefer living a carefree life of sin to living a holy life in the fear of the Lord (Psalm 14:1-3, 36:1). These people do not want to know God because they do not want to be accountable to a divine authority (Psalm 94:7; Romans 1:28). In the end, God cannot force anyone to believe in Him. He gives us the freedom to choose whether we want to find Him and believe in Him. Related topic in Issue # 18. Key Bible verses: Romans 1:18-32 Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, it must hurt your heart when Your creation rejected You. Father, please have mercy on us all. Please help those who are being deceived by Satan to know You and the truth. Please help those who are proud and think that they do not need You see the foolishness of their thinking. Please help those who are imprisoned by their sinful lifestyles to desire to find freedom in You. I ask all of these for the sake of Your Son who died for all of us, Amen. (If you know friends or relatives who fall into these categories of unbelief, please commit their names to the Lord regularly so that they will one day know Him and be saved.) Last words... "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) Next |
