Question: How special is the birth of Jesus?

Answer: First, the birth of Jesus was very special because He was born to Mary who was a virgin (Issue # 72). Mary was able to give birth to Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). Second, angels announced the birth of Jesus (Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:26-28, 2:9-14). Third, there was even a star which led the wise men to the birthplace of Jesus (Matthew 2:1-2). Fourth, the birth of Jesus was prophesized by the prophet Isaiah about 700 years before His birth (Isaiah 7:14). And several thousands of years earlier, God Himself foretold the Offspring of Eve who will defeat Satan (Genesis 3:15). In spite of these supernatural circumstances, Jesus, the Saviour of the world was born in a smelly manger to a poor Jewish girl called Mary and her carpenter husband, Joseph. His humble beginning on earth reveals the great humility of Jesus who came to serve and die on the cross. This Christmas, let us marvel at how Jesus humbled Himself, gave up His heavenly position to be born as Man and to die on the cross for our sins. Related topic in Issue # 71, 72 & 89.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I am amazed by how special Your birth was. Prophets, angels, a star and Your Father announced Your birth. Let my heart continue to be in awe of You as I wait for You to come again in glory and power. Amen.

Last words...
"You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. [32] He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, [33] and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; His kingdom will never end." (Luke 1:31-33)
