Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: Why is Christmas a season of giving?

Answer: Christmas is a season of giving because God gave His one and only Son to be born as man and die on the cross for our sins (John 3:16; Romans 8:3). This Christmas season, consider how Jesus gave up His position in heaven to come down to earth for us (John 6:62). Consider how Jesus gave up His dignity and self-respect by allowing the Roman soldiers and Jews to insult, mock, flog, and spit on Him for us (Mark 14:65; Luke 18:32). Consider how Jesus gave up His life to die on the cross for us so that we may live for eternity. Consider for a moment - this Christmas, God wants to give you the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Are you willing to receive the most precious gift of your life? A gift that never expires, decays or perishes (Romans 6:23, 8:35)? A gift that reconciles you to God and be accepted as His child (Ephesians 1:5, 3:12)? A gift that enables you to live your life to the full (John 10:10)? A gift that brings healing to homes, broken relations, and diseases (Isaiah 53:5, 61:1)? A gift that sets you free from fears, sin, death, darkness, and condemnation (Isaiah 61:1; Romans 8:2)? A gift that gives you hope and joy regardless of your circumstances (John 15:11)? A gift that gives you love, peace, truth, wisdom and understanding (Luke 21:15; John 8:3, 14:27)? This Christmas, are you willing to receive this gift?

Key Bible verses:
Isaiah 53:10; Matthew 3:17, 21:37; Romans 8:32; Ephesians 5:2; 1 John 4:9

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be the Saviour of the world. I open my heart to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus who died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and help me to be the person that You want me to be. In Jesus' most glorious name, I pray. Amen.

Last words...
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
