| PAST ISSUE # 126 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Why did God rest on the 7th day? Answer: God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th day (Genesis 1:31-2:4). This was a pattern given to us by God to follow. We should work during the 6 weekdays and rest on the 7th day (usually a Sunday). Rest is very important so that we can refresh ourselves and spend time with God and our family. If we work without having any rest day, we become tired and get sick easily. Our relationships with God and our family also deteriorate because we do not spend enough time with them. Related topic in Issue # 108 & 109. Key Bible verses: Exodus 20:9-10, 31:17 Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us the pattern to follow. Thank You for creating a rest day for me to spend time with You and my family. Please refresh my body, mind and spirit on my rest day so that I can look forward to another week of work. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen. Last words... "By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work." (Genesis 2:2) Next |
