Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: Why is the blood of Jesus Christ so important?

Answer: In the story of the Exodus, God commanded every Jewish household to sacrifice a lamb and put its blood on the door frames of their homes so that they will be protected from the plague against the firstborn (Exodus 12:7, 12-13). Moses also used the blood of the animal sacrifices to cleanse the people and the altar in the Tabernacle (Exodus 24:8, 29:12, 16, 20-21).

In the Gospel, Jesus mentioned His blood as a sign of the forgiveness of our sins (Matthew 26:28). Apostle Paul and John also mentioned in their epistles (letters) that we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus (Romans 5:9; 1 John 1:7). Therefore, when we invite Jesus into our lives, we acknowledge that we are sinners and Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and we need His forgiveness. The shedding of His blood means that our sins have been forgiven and we are made spiritually clean (Hebrews 9:22). As such, we can now enter into the presence of God the Father through Jesus (John 14:6; Colossians 1:20; Hebrews 9:20).

Key Bible verses:
John 6:55-56, 19:34; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 10:19; Revelation 5:9, 7:14

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus who sacrificed Himself on the cross for my sins. I acknowledge that I am a sinner who needs Your forgiveness of my sins. I invite Jesus into my heart and ask that You forgive all of my sins. Please teach and help me to live a life which is always pleasing to You. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

Last words...
"The blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)
