Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: Who is the antichrist?

Answer: Many people have tried to guess the identity of the antichrist but no one is able to do so correctly. In the Bible, an antichrist is defined as a person who denies Jesus as the Son of God. As such, there had been many antichrists in the history of the church. In the early part of church history, some Jews were labeled as antichrists because they denied Jesus as the Son of God and persecuted many Christians (Book of Acts). However, there were also many Jews like Paul the apostle who believed in Jesus (Acts 14:1, 17:12). During the Roman Empire, many Christians were persecuted. The Roman Emperor Nero was one of the worst persecutors of Christians. He not only denied Jesus as the Son of God but he proclaimed himself to be god. At that time, the Christians considered Emperor Nero to be the antichrist. Today, we can find many antichrists by watching television or reading books, magazines and newspapers. You can see and read accounts of people persecuting Christians and personal views of people that Jesus is not real. Do you know an antichrist? Do you have a family member or friend who denies Jesus is the Son of God? Paul the apostle was once an antichrist who denied Jesus as the Son of God and persecuted many Christians (Acts 8:3, 9:22). But, Paul had a personal experience with the Lord Jesus while on his way to Damascus (Acts 9:3-31). Today, let us pray for the antichrists we know to have a personal experience with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Key Bible verses:
2 Thessalonians 2:3; 1 John 2:18-22; 4:2-3; 2 John 1:7; Revelation 13:11-18

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I ask for your mercy for my love ones and friends who denies You as the Son of God. Please reveal Yourself to them like You have revealed to Paul. Show and convict them that You are true and living. Thank You, Lord Jesus for Your mercy. I know that You desire no one to perish but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Amen.

Last words...
"Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour." (1 John 2:18)
