Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: Which TV shows are bad for children?

Answer:  There are many TV shows which are bad for children. Bad shows depict and glorify violence, immorality and the occult. These shows may be fun and interesting to watch but they are harmful to our minds and spirits. The message in some shows corrupt our minds. For example, a violent show can make us think that it is alright to use violence. We can also be traumatized by the violent scenes and get nightmares as a result. Certain shows also glorify Satan and his works. For example, a show on witchcraft or the occult do not glorify God but Satan. A child who watches such shows may want to experiment with witchcraft or the occult, and he can be led astray into following Satan. Bad shows are also addictive. They make us want to watch it all the time. For example, a child may become addicted to certain cartoon shows that the he prefers watching them to spending time with God and his family. As Christians, God has given us the freedom to choose. Ultimately, the remote control to the television is in our hands. If you know the TV show you are watching is bad and displeases God, switch to another channel or switch off the television. If you have difficulty doing so, you need to ask God for help you because Satan has ensnared you. Related topic in Issue # 64.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me when I watch bad shows on the television and at the cinemas, or visit bad websites on the internet. Please forgive me for allowing them to influence and pollute my minds with ungodly values. Lord Jesus, please help me to stay away from such shows, movies, and websites because I want to guard my eyes, my ears, my mind and my spirit against Satan and his influence. Please protect and equip me from the deceptive clutches of Satan. Thank You, Lord Jesus. I love You. Amen.
