| PAST ISSUE # 89 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: If Jesus is the Son of God, why did God allow Jesus to die on the cross? Answer: One wonders why God allows His one and only beloved Son, Jesus to die (Luke 3:22). One also wonders why Jesus cannot save Himself if He claims to be the almighty Son of God (Matthew 26:53). But, Jesus' mission on earth was to die as an atonement for the sins of all humankind (Mark 10:45; Ephesians 1:7). We are all sinners (Romans 3:23), and the penalty of our sins is death (Romans 6:23). By right, we are supposed to be punished on the cross for our sins. However, Jesus took our place on the cross for our sins (Hebrews 9:26-28). As such, there is forgiveness of sins through Jesus (Acts 13:38; Ephesians 1:7). No one or nothing can forgive our sins except Jesus. Today, you are given the opportunity to escape eternal death and receive eternal life when you ask Jesus to forgive your sins. Related topic in Issues #14, 15 Key Bible verses: Isaiah 53:4-12 Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I cannot imagine the pain, rejection and loneliness you went through while you hang on the cross about 2000 years ago. I cannot imagine why you would die for the sins of people who don't even know or love you. But, you did all of these for me. You suffered and died for me. Lord Jesus, right now, I ask for your forgiveness of all my sins. I also receive Your Holy Spirit who will teach and guide me to be the person you want me to be. Lord Jesus, as You shower Your love upon me, let my love for You grow and be demonstrated through loving the weak, the poor, and the lost. Amen. Last words... "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Next |
