| PAST ISSUE # 133 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Why does God want us to pray if He knows what will happen in the future? Answer: God wants us to pray because He wants us to humble ourselves and ask Him (2 Chronicles 7:14). Even though, God knows what will happen in the future, He will change the course of future events if we ask Him to. In the book of Jonah, God told the prophet Jonah that He will judge the city of Nineveh for their wickedness (Jonah 3:4). However, God did not bring judgment to the city because the people of Nineveh humbled themselves and prayed to God for mercy (Jonah 3:8-10). Our God is not a god who forces us to live lives according to His predetermined plans. He gives us the freedom to choose the course of our lives, and to pray to Him if we need help and mercy (James 5:13). Related topic in Issue # 28. Key Bible verses: 2 Kings 22:19; 2 Chronicles 12:6-7 Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, in spite of You knowing everything in the future, I thank You that You gave me the freedom to choose the course of my life. Please remind me that I should always be humble and I can always call on You for help and direction. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen. Last words... "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
